About The Bug Campaign
The Bug Campaign is a community-driven public health initiative dedicated to preventing mosquito- and tick-borne diseases through education, outreach, and advocacy.
Founded in Mississippi, we work at the intersection of science, community engagement, and environmental justice to empower people with the knowledge and tools to protect themselves, their families, and their communities.
We believe that everyone, no matter where they live, deserves access to clear, reliable information about how to stay safe from vector-borne diseases.
What We Do
The Bug Campaign bridges the gap between science and everyday life. We transform public health research into accessible education and practical action. Our work includes:
Education & Awareness:
Hosting workshops, school programs, and public campaigns.
Research & Data Sharing:
Providing accessible information about disease prevention.
Community Advocacy:
Partnering with local leaders to influence policy and public health strategies.
Through these efforts, we are building a movement that puts prevention, and people, first.

Our Vision
We envision a world where disease prevention is a shared responsibility, and a world where communities have access to accurate information, advanced tools, and equitable health infrastructure.
By bringing together scientists, educators, health professionals, and advocates, we are creating a model for long-term public health resilience.
Our ultimate goal is a healthier, more informed, and more connected world where preventable diseases no longer determine people’s futures.
Why This Work Matters
Vector-borne illnesses such as Zika, West Nile, and Lyme disease are on the rise globally. Yet they rarely receive the attention or investment they deserve. These diseases don’t just harm individuals; they disrupt ecosystems, livelihoods, and entire communities.
Climate change is expanding mosquito and tick ranges. Outbreaks are appearing in new regions. And limited access to prevention resources leaves vulnerable populations at greater risk.
At The Bug Campaign, we see disease prevention as an issue of health and environmental justice. By making science accessible and actionable, we help communities turn awareness into prevention, and prevention into protection.
Future Goals & Long-Term Strategy
Our work doesn’t stop at awareness. Over the next five years, we are committed to transforming how communities understand and respond to environmental health threats.
Our priorities include:
- Expanding educational programs nationwide to reach schools, faith-based organizations, and local governments.
- Investing in technology and data systems that enable real-time disease tracking and public alerts.
- Building stronger partnerships with universities, health organizations, and policymakers.
- Advocating for equitable public health policies that prioritize prevention and sustainability.
Together, these efforts move us closer to a future where no one is left unprotected from preventable diseases.
